FR-462 Open DJ Administration, Maintenance and Tuning

This course will provide the students with the necessary skills to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting techniques, monitor and tune servers, create and manage multiple databases, and perform other tasks with ForgeRock Open Directory Service for Java (OpenDJ). The main course goal is to provide understanding and hands-on experience to enable students to perform the most important functions of ForgeRock OpenDJ and manage a production deployment.

Audience: 

The course is aimed at system administrators, integrators, consultants, architects and developers installing, configuring, administering and maintaining ForgeRock OpenDJ.

Prerequisites: 

A basic knowledge of Unix commands
A basic understanding of how LDAP works
An appreciation of HTTP and web applications
A basic knowledge of Java would be beneficial, although programming experience is not required

Installation

  • Install OpenDJ with multiple instances
  • Install and use the DSML Gateway

  • Perform OpenDJ Maintenance and Administration
  • Use the Control Panel and Command Line Interface to administer OpenDJ
  • Perform OpenDJ Advanced Configuration

Security

  • Configure access control and password policies

Database

  • Perform full and incremental backups
  • Create database backends and indexes
  • Configure multi-server replication

Tuning

  • Use the OpenDJ LDAP Toolkit to generate server load
  • Tune the OpenDJ server for search, write, and import performance

Monitoring

  • Monitor the OpenDJ server
