5 Reasons to Implement or Upgrade to 7.2

The online world is crowded, and organizations are focusing their attention on digital experiences to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Identity and access management (IAM) solutions have become the strategic IT tool for such organizations to deliver a personalized user experience.

How strategic? Gartner estimates that by 2025, organizations adopting customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions with converged fraud detection and passwordless authentication will be able to reduce customer churn by half!* Half! This forecast highlights the advantages a well-designed CIAM solution can bring to your business.

With this in mind, I'd like to introduce you to some of the features of the newly released ForgeRock Identity Platform 7.2. This release — like those before — supports our company's mission of enabling secure access to the connected world. For 7.2, we remained focused on making the customer experience both secure and exceptional, so you can keep customers engaged and coming back. There's a lot in this release, so we've broken it down into five ways its new capabilities can help solve some of your most pressing business challenges.

  1. Elevate the Customer Experience. This is really the name of the game. By providing a seamless omnichannel experience, your customers can get what they need when they need it. To this end, we extended our commitment to open standards. We've enabled extensions on top of the OAuth2 standard so you can configure more ways to authorize per application. This means users can get to what they need within their applications quickly, post login.

Another cool feature in 7.2 is what we refer to as circuit breakers. In a hybrid world, network latency between cloud and legacy or on-premises applications could result in a poor experience. With circuit breakers, you can reduce traffic to applications and also let users know if an application is slow or unavailable. The ability to push out a simple message, "We're running a bit slow today, be right with you," can help to reduce user abandonment and churn.

  1. Save Time and Improve Efficiency. Administrator time is valuable. As you scale up to support your ongoing digital transformation initiatives, it's important to ensure your IT administrators have tools that help them efficiently optimize the overall health and success of your IAM solution. To this end, we've added a couple of nodes to our Intelligent Access drag-and-drop orchestration engine. The Set Custom Cookie Node and Dynamic Scripting Node help to pass along stored attributes to clients and applications, easing the integration of legacy applications. Another, the Identity Management Groups (IDM Groups) Node uses group membership information to make smarter decisions about user journeys.

  1. Improve Security. Everyone wants greater security, but in the identity world, security needs to be balanced and nuanced. Financial-grade API, or FAPI, has become the de-facto high-grade security and privacy standard for financial use cases, and many organizations beyond financial services are adopting FAPI. We already supported the standard, but with 7.2, we are delivering Enhanced FAPI Support, which is increasingly required with open banking standards.

  1. Enhance Scalability, Performance, and Resiliency. IAM needs to perform at internet-scale. Users who experience slow returns due to sluggish retrieval of identity-related information will drop out of an enrollment or a transaction. For 7.2, we have optimized Big Indexes with our Directory Services. This means that as your directory grows to millions (or even billions) of consumer, workforce, and IoT identities and attributes, you can rest assured that your users and applications won't be left hanging when a big data search is required.

  1. Platform Extensibility/Low-Code/No-Code. Drag-and-drop orchestration is a game-changer. There are just too many use cases and changing business roles for developers to be intensively coding and testing every user journey. With 7.2, new nodes such as Dynamic Scripted Configuration Node, Set Custom Cookie Node, and Passthrough Authentication Node appear like magic in the orchestration library and deliver new capabilities with just a few clicks.

In addition to those outlined here, there are many, many more features in the 7.2 release. We invite you to check out the ForgeRock Identity Platform Release 7.2, now available, by reading What's New here (AM / DS / IDM / IG) and downloading the software here: (AM / DS / IDM / IG)
