ForgeRock on Winning Team for TM Forum Catalyst Award
We’re excited to announce that ForgeRock was a member of the TM Forum Catalyst team that won the 2018 award for “Outstanding use of TM Forum Assets.” TM Forum is the global industry association that drives collaboration and collective problem-solving to maximize the business success of communication and digital service providers and their ecosystem of suppliers. The industry consortium pursues a vision to help communications service providers (CSPs) and their suppliers to digitally transform and thrive in the digital era.
Twice per year, TM Forum recognizes Catalyst teams that have demonstrated outstanding work. The winning projects are made up of collaborative teams of communications and digital services leaders who demonstrate commitment to the future of the industry through work in the Forum’s Catalyst program. Catalyst projects are rapid collaboration initiatives; in less than six months, members work together to create proof-of-concept demonstrations for today’s most pressing business, operational and IT challenges.
The project the ForgeRock team participated in was a live proof-of-concept demo of a working Smart City management platform, titled Connected Citizens - a Smart City Enabling Digital Platform. This consisted of a city data hub, BSS and OSS systems, a Blockchain-based loyalty scheme and smart contracts, and metro area network infrastructure with end-to-end secure access management of devices, data, platforms and users. Platform integration was achieved utilizing 11 of the core TM Forum APIs, including the creation of a new API for distributed ledgers. ForgeRock’s co-team members included BearingPoint, Civimetrics, Globetom and Infosim, and we also worked with project champions Orange, NTT, Metropole Nice Cote d’Azur and the City of Saint Quentin.
The ForgeRock Identity Platform provided essential digital identity and access management capabilities for the Smart City Platform, making it possible for the team to build trusted identity relationships between physical assets, services, applications and users, for city employees and contractors. By securing access to applications, services and devices using standards-based authentication and authorization methods (e.g. OAuth 2.0, SAML, OpenID Connect, Mobile Connect), the team was able to secure data flows and data access directly from Smart City devices and via the Smart City Platform data hub. As a result, we were able to manage user consent, and ensure privacy in accordance with regulations, such as GDPR, for both city employees and citizens. Catalyst team member Christian Maitre, Orange Group CIO deputy in charge of IT Excellence, provides an overview of the project in this video on the TM Forum website.
Congrats to everyone from ForgeRock involved in the project, and also to our team members and all the TM Forum champions and participants! This was a brilliant team effort in showing the path forward to the Smart City and digital communications future. Nicely done!
